our values

Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) is non-sectarian, meaning that it seeks to unite rather than divide human beings in their quest for a better life here on earth.  Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) does not believe in segregating human beings on the basis of colour, race, political opinion, religious denomination or sexual orientation. To us human beings are human beings, endowed with intelligence and reason and the capacity to distinguish between good and evil because of their reason. Our belief system consists solely of faith in the capacity of human beings to change their destiny for the better here on earth through intelligent cooperative enterprise.

Needless to say, Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) is therefore also non-religious and guided purely by humanist values, concrete empiricism and the scientific method. We believe in working together to make life better for human beings here and now on this earth that we share, and not in a hereafter that we cannot see and therefore cannot control or influence for good or worse.

Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) is guided by and believes in the following core values:

1. Team work: Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) operates on the principle that working together is a faster route of escape from poverty and its allies than working alone.

2.  Impact: Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) believes its raison d’être to be the creation of positive transformation in the lives of the individuals and the community at large.

3. Mutual respect and concern for the welfare of others: Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) endeavors to uphold the dignity, value contributions and potential of every individual, and to ensure that we treat others as we would have ourselves treated.

4. Industry and innovation: Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) strives to inculcate into its principals, beneficiaries, and the community the spirit of positive transformation through tireless application and thinking outside the box.

 5. Concern for the environment: Shared Growth Uganda (SGU) believes that the world is the common home of all species – and that we should not make it better for ourselves while making it worse for others.
